It was recently revealed that alcohol sales in the city of Austin, as well as across various other areas in Texas, increased by double digits.

In just one month, a total of $71.7 million worth of wine, beer, and other beverages were poured in restaurants, bars, and hotels. This is an increase of the $63.3 million during this same time last year. Bar tabs across Texas were also totaled at being $635.2 million, which is an increase from last year’s total of $554 million.

In terms of venues, the Toyota Center ranked in at the top spot, bringing in a total of $2.4 million in alcohol sales. In Austin specifically, the JW Marriott Hotel ranked in at number one, bringing in a total of $1.2 million in alcohol sales.

Other locations throughout Austin and their totals include the following:

*Circuit of the Americas ($977,868)

*Fairmont Austin Hotel ($666,726)

*Unbarlievable ($537,792)

*Rose Room ($510,576)

*Container Bar ($471,998)

*W Hotel Austin ($468,635)

*Top Golf ($417,915)

*Oasis Cantina del Lago ($407,515)

*Lustre Pearl ($405,420)

Local laws related to alcohol also vary, but most follow the official state code. For instance, any establishment that sells alcohol must publicly display a permit that states they are allowed to do so. Furthermore, alcohol is generally not permitted to be sold near either schools or daycare centers, nor can it be sold in any area that is part of a “dry” county.
