DWI Texas news. A resident of San Antonio, who has been charged with drunk driving in four different Texas counties a total of six times has, thus far, been able to avoid being sentenced to prison, even though she recently racked up further charges last fall while she was on probation for felony DWI.

57-year-old Karen Shouse currently faces felony charges of third-degree DWI or more, as well as evading arrest with a motor vehicle, in Kendall County. This comes after investigators claim she drove down a street the wrong way, came close to striking another man with her vehicle, and refused to stop for a Fair Oaks Ranch police officer who tried pulling her over back in September 2021. According to a seizure order that was filed in October, which was done in order to take possession of Shouse’s vehicle, she is also accused of crashing into another vehicle during this same incident.

The latest instance, however, follows Shouse pleading guilty to felony DWI in Comal County back in September 2019. This is when a motion had been filed by prosecutors to revoke her probation; however, according to community supervision records, Shouse had been sent to a state treatment facility.

According to a source who is familiar with Shouse’s legal issues, the decision from the court was surprising due to the fact that Shouse currently has pending felony charges. Furthermore, her stay at a treatment facility under the authority of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice cannot legally extend past 120 days.

Shouse provided two separate breath specimens, which came back with blood alcohol content levels of .315 and .308. This is nearly four times the legal limit to drive in the state of Texas. Shouse is legally required to have an ignition interlock device installed in any vehicle that she drives as part of her 2019 DWI plea agreement in Comal County; however, on the night of her arrest in Kendall County, she was discovered to be driving a vehicle that didn’t have one.

DWI Texas news. Shouse’s arrest in Kendall County is her sixth since she was initially charged with DWI back in 2006, where she was first charged in Bexar County while she was under investigation for a separate November 2004 drunk driving incident. She was eventually charged in this case in April 2006. In July of that same year, she was charged with DWI – open container and driving with an invalid license, while three years later in June 2009, Shouse was booked in Hays County for felony DWI. In August 2018, she was again arrested in Comal County for felony DWI.
